High Wych Parish Council

The council is responsible for the villages of High Wych and Allen’s Green in East Hertfordshire near to the Market Town of Sawbridgeworth. The council has 7 members (see Councillors tab for details).

High Wych boasts:

• The Rising Sun pub;
• Chandidi Indian Restaurant;
• A Village Stores;
• St James’ Church;
• A popular Village Hall;
• A small secondary hall (currently leased to the Harlow Theatre Company for rehearsals and storage);
• A part time Post Office (in the village hall);
• The Manor of Groves Golf and Country Club;
• A Private Hospital within walking distance;
• A thriving junior school;
• A large, well equipped, Playing Fields;
• A small, picturesque, village green;
• An Allotments site with 30 plots;
• A number of thatched properties;

The village is well known locally for the annual Scarecrow Festival in early September.

Allen’s Green boasts:

• A large village green;
• A popular Village Hall;
• The Queen’s head pub which is known locally for its excellent beers and the regular beer festivals
